Curtis Stone is an Australian chef who made good in the US, first with a regular spot on a national tv network, then on Celebrity Apprentice. He went on to open two restaurants Maude and Gwen (named after his grandmothers) in Los Angeles, his adopted home.
Curtis and Maude executive chef, Justin Hilbert visited La Rioja and the Basque Country at the end of last year searching for inspiration for new dishes to add to Maude’s menu. They came with a tv crew and spent four days visiting well-known restaurants, wineries and local craft food producers.

I was asked to take some professional photos of their trip and the people the met. They clearly loved meeting people who are passionate about what they do, people like María and Goyo who make Tondeluna cheese, Ester from Embutidos Pisón and winemaker Juan Carlos Sancha. They also went mushroom foraging with Ezcaray chef Francis Paniego of El Portal del Echaurren.
Many of the ingredients, products and wines were incorporated into the spring menu at Maude.
